The tour has been over for just a couple of days an I am already in withdrawal. I am looking to the next great race for excitement.
The fantasy competition saw quite the movement over the past few stages. The big winner this year was Team Lop-side-down managed by Kelin Dunfee. With a well rounded team for the flats and mountains he took an early lead and held off Karpets Mullets managed by Jeff Cook-Lundgren by a mere 13 points for the win. Jeff's path to the top was focused in the last week and overall results. He jumped three spots with his impressive overall picks. The final podium spot belongs to Les Têtards managed by Charlie Sawyer. His final scoring push was enough to climb onto the podium.

More musings later. Here are the nuts and bolts. Who invited Kelin Dunfee to play anyway? He looks good to seal the overall. How did he get Froome, Quintana, Sagan, Cavendish and Kittel all on the same team?!?! The risks a fantasy cyclist takes...

Wrath of le Tour - Stage 9, 10, & 11 Results
The last three stages have had a bit of everything going on. On stage 9 riders conquered the first true mountain top finish, but a hail storm was the talk of the day. Other talk on the day was Contador getting in the car and the shadow Quintana was casting behind Froome. The rest day is always a day for the press to catch as many riders as possible. Some of the best quotes included Movistar boss Eusebio Unzué claiming that if Sky didn't bring such a strong team Quintana might attack more! Lets hope the 2nd half of le Tour has more uphill mountain attacks than the first weekend.
Stage 9 Podium
1 - Karpets Mullets - Jeff Cook-Lundgren - 183
2 - V V and V - Vicki Johnston - 178
3 - Childress' Children - Alex Kurt - 174

14 - Childress' Children - Alex Kurt - 951
Stage 10 had drama of a different kind. The big breakaway for the day was stacked with classics all stars. The group that came to the line was a who's who of hard man sprinters. Excellent team tactics were on display by the Orica-BikeExchange squad. Peter Sagan is good, but the well played three vs. one tactics were just a bit too much.
Stage 10 Podium
1 - Sagan's Grease Lightning - Alex Hooke - 293
2 - Karpets Mullets - Jeff Cook-Lundgren - 270
3 - Team Lop-side-down - Kelin Dunfee - 240
Stage 11 looked to be another day for the fast men, but the talks of cross winds always makes for a nervous peloton. Skinny mountain climbers and wind don't often mix well. At least one rider seems to lose le Tour on a windy transition stage each year. Most of the top 10 GC riders were within 6 seconds of Froome and his second sneak attack on the field. However, Louis Meintjes and Joaquin Rodriguez Oliver found themselves 1.09 back from the front and now outside the top 10.
Stage 11 Podium

Wrath of le Tour Stage 7 & 8 scoring
Two days in the mountains and two different winners. Two teams that have not finished on the podium nabbed 1st and 2nd today on stage 8. The focus on GC riders is a coup Salty Dog managed by Justin Rath employs most years. He has started his climb from the bottom and if things continue on this way he will make is way to the top. Team Lop-side-down managed by Kelin Dunfee had a solid showing over the last couple of days and maintains the top spot in the overall competition. The fight for the podium is hot with But I'm Le Tired managed by Beth Geissler, The Buusycles managed by Bethany Buus and Rainbow Warriors managed by Scott Bromelkamp sitting just EIGHT points apart.
The legion of Froome should be licking their chops now that he is in yellow. Will it be a SKY stranglehold like 2013 and 2015 or will one of the 12 riders within 34 seconds of the lead snatch yellow from the SKY mountain train? Tomorrow should be another great day with a mountain top finish in Andorra.

Wrath of le Tour Stage 6 Results
The last stage before the road tilts up was yesterday. One fantasy cyclist continued to capitalize on this. Team Lop-side-down managed by Kelin Dunfee has four stage wins to date with his sprint heavy team. The big question will be if he can manage to hold on as the road to tilts up. The next three days should be exciting. Will your riders be in front or be looking to turn into a stage chaser?

Wrath of le Tour - Weekend Warriors - Stage 1 - 3 results
Lots of great action over the long weekend. One manager, rookie fantasy cyclist Kelin Dunfee, went out on a "limb" with picking Cavendish and it has payed big dividends. Many who selected the big stage chasers are doing well. Others who have a team set up for the overall are biding their time until the mountains arrive. It should make for another exciting Wrath of le Tour!

2016 Wrath of le Tour is live
Many of the
best cyclist in the world are starting their trip to Paris on Saturday. This is the deepest field in my my memory. Many contenders have a realistic chance for the win and even more will have a shot at the podium. It is a mountainous affair this year so the power to weight ratio guys are licking their chops. That said, the sprinters will have plenty of flat stages to display their speed and power.
@fantasycyclist will be posting all updates for the league and you can also follow at fantasycyclist.blogspot.com
Submit your teams to fantasycyclist@gmail.com or share via google as soon as possible as the race starts on Saturday. Please pass this along to anyone you feel may be interested. Small rivalry over fantasy cycling is a good conversation topic for the month of July.
If you are traveling, at the cabin, shooting off fireworks or have some other reason not to be able to get your team in immediately that is OK. The competition does not have a hard deadline, but cheating is not looked upon very kindly.
